Minimum Balance: The bank expects you to deposit at least CHF 50'000.($36k USD)- or its equivalent in any currency within a few months of opening the account. If you can meet these requirements, open this account, you will not be disappointed.

Internet Banking: Powerful and easy to use internet banking access. This system enables you to view your account statements online, transfer funds to any bank account in the world and invest money in the stock market (online trading). You will have a direct access to electronic markets such as the Nasdaq or the Swiss stock exchange and will be able to enter your orders for all other world markets. Security is ensured by military-grade encryption, two passwords and a code which changes for each session (scratch list).

Some of these functions are not available in every country:

  • UK: No online stock market orders and no bank transfers online. Use fax for these operations or open a Swiss postal account.
  • France: No online stock market orders and no bank transfers online. Use fax or open a Classic Swiss account instead.
  • Italy: No online stock market orders and no bank transfers online. Use fax or open a Classic Swiss account instead.
  • Spain: No online stock market orders, no access to research online and no bank transfers online. Use fax or open a Classic Swiss account instead.

These restrictions are due to the bank's policy and depend on where you live, not on your citizenship. If you need a service not available in your country, please contact us to see if there are alternatives.

Credit Cards: Mastercard and Visa available, with or without the bank logo. Annual cost is CHF 100.- (see in US Dollars, British Pounds or Euros) the first year and CHF 50.- a year thereafter (see in US Dollars, British Pounds or Euros). Both cards are available in Swiss Francs, US dollars and Euros.

You can use these cards to withdraw cash at ATMs worldwide. Withdrawal cost a flat fee of CHF 5.- (see in US Dollars, British Pounds or Euros).

To get one of these credit cards, you need to deposit a security equal to 1.5 times the card's monthly credit limit. This security will remain blocked as long as you keep the card. The bank may ask, apart from the security, that you have a certain balance on your account which may exceed the minimum balance before they issue the credit card.

Expenses: The basic fee for the account is CHF 3.- a month.

International bank transfers cost CHF 5.- per transfer if ordered through the internet, CHF 10.- if ordered using a bank form, and CHF 25.- if ordered by letter, phone or fax.

Cashing international cheques costs CHF 40.-.

Restricted Countries: You can open this account only if you live in one of the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK.

Restricted Citizens:If you are a citizen of one of the following countries you cannot open this account: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Nigeria.

Set up requirements: When opening by mail we need a valid passport with an apostille as well as the usual documents about the economic origin of the funds. In person no apostille is necessary.
